A system in the western Caribbean Sea is expected to develop into near-hurricane strength by Tuesday night this week.

Potential Tropical Storm Nine is expected to become the eighth named storm of the season, Helene, by Tuesday morning, according to the National Hurricane Center. The Hurricane Center also shared that it could become a major hurricane by the time it reaches the northeastern Gulf Coast on Thursday.

At this point, there is no trackable center of the storm for models to predict where the storm will go, but all eyes are on the Panhandle and the Big Bend area of Florida.
