Ivanhoe Village Main Street (Website) is transforming a neglected lot into a vibrant new pocket park on Virginia Drive.
The Ivanhoe Village Design Committee (all volunteers) dreamed up a plan to transform a parcel of land in front of City Well #3 on Virginia Drive into a small park space for the neighborhood, complete with native plants, sculptural seating options, and local art.
The property has been a bit of a void along the corridor, which regularly hosts community events like Virginia Drive Live. The design team’s plans include pavered access for maintenance vehicles to still be able to maintain the well behind the park, while still activating the underused portion closer to Virginia Drive.
All of the existing oak trees on the property will be kept in place.
The project will be funded mostly by a grant from Commissioner Stuart, but it must be matched by the Main Street. They are currently accepting donations to the project HERE.
