We told you back in December 2021 that the City of Orlando would be extending Hicks Avenue as part of the I-4 Ultimate Project, and we can now share that the project has finally been completed.
The project was carried out in partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation and is meant to enhance connectivity, improve pedestrian safety, and include new and efficient stormwater drainage and sewer systems along the corridor, from South Street to Gore Street.
Improvements include:
- Widened sidewalks for pedestrians
- Dedicated bike lanes for cyclists
- Improved traffic flow
- On-street parking
- Easy access to I-4
- Enhanced stormwater management
The project now connects a section of Parramore and Holden Heights that was previously divided by the interstate and State Road 408 interchange.
