Orlando residents David and Nicole Beyer have made two swan-shaped donations to the City of Orlando.

The Beyers made a financial gift to the City to purchase two new Australian Black swans for Lake Eola. Families, Parks, and Recreation staff were at the park earlier today releasing the swans into a special acclimation area to help transition them to urban life.

The City’s swan population was hit hard earlier this year by Avian influenza and a hungry river otter intruder. It currently hosts five distinct breeds at Lake Eola, including Trumpeter, Black Neck, Whooper, Royal Mute, and Australian Black Swans.

City Council recently approved the purchase of six swans in August, which you can read more about HERE. Those three pair were purchased from the same breeder as this new couple.
