After undergoing further testing today in Cleveland, Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero has been diagnosed with a torn right oblique, President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman announced today.

According to a press release issued on October 31, Banchero will be out indefinitely and his return to play will depend on how he responds to treatment. He will be re-evaluated in four-to-six weeks. Banchero suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of Orlando’s game at Chicago on Oct. 30.

Originally selected by Orlando in the first round (first overall) of the 2022 NBA Draft, Banchero has played and started in 157 career NBA regular-season games, all with Orlando, averaging 21.6 ppg and 7.0 RPG. and 4.6 apg. in 34.5 minpg. He was named the 2022-23 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year and was the only player to be a unanimous selection to the 2022-23 NBA All-Rookie First Team.
