6 P.M. UPDATE: An additional person has been reported as injured. According to OPD she self-transported to a local hospital and is in stable condition.
A Halloween night shooting in downtown Orlando left two dead, six wounded, and another person injured from the ensuing panic, say Orlando Police.
17-year-old Jaylen Edgar was arrested in connection with the shooting, which still has no motive. The names of the victims have not been released, but we do know the following.
- Victim 1: Black Male, 25, deceased
- Victim 2: White Male, 19, deceased
- Victim 3: White Male, 18, shot in the lower left leg
- Victim 4: White Female, 39, shot in left hand
- Victim 5: Hispanic Female, 24, shot in left leg
- Victim 6: Black Male, 20, shot in the head (graze)
- Victim 7: Hispanic Male, 26, shot in right foot
- Victim 8: Hispanic Female, 19, shot in upper back, lodged in cheek
- Victim 9: Hispanic Female, 26, injuries from being trampled. She was not shot.
There were an estimated 50,000-100,000 people downtown at the time of the shooting, which took place near the intersection of Central Boulevard and Orange Avenue, in the heart of downtown. More shots were reported shortly after near Washington Street and Orange Avenue.
A video of the incident was shared by Orlando Police on social media, where you can clearly see the suspect casually lift a gun over his shoulder and shoot behind him. Please be aware that it is graphic.
