In May of this year, we told you that a company called City Food Hall (Website) had signed the lease for the vacant The Hall on The Yard space in Ivanhoe Village. It now appears that they are almost ready to open.
City Food Hall staff recently shared with Bungalower that they are hoping to reopen the space by mid-December after some basic interior renovations and code enforcement updates left behind by the previous operator (who allegedly left the space in an epic state of disrepair). They will have a total of nine vendors operating in the food hall once they open, and just two of those spaces are currently vacant at the time of this post.
Michael Collantes of Soseki fame will be bringing back his Filipino food stall concept, Taglish, as well as opening a larger sit-down restaurant concept on the second floor called Chez Les Copains, his version of a classic French brasserie. Additional food hall vendors include Ramen Takagi, EggDose, and Blessed Belly. In stark contrast to the previous food hall, reservations will not be required and customers can self-serve themselves by approaching the vendors on their own. There won’t be any servers and no waitlist to get in – something Yelpers definitely complained about before.
The City Food Hall team is looking forward to launching a series of public programming in The Yard’s outdoor plaza in the coming months, including a regular farmers’ market as well as a valet service to help with parking concerns.
City Food Hall will be hosting some fun programming this weekend during Jingle Eve, Ivanhoe Village’s annual district-wide holiday party. If you or someone you know would like to take one of those last two food stalls, you can fill out a letter of interest HERE.
