Former Disney executive-turned-hotelier Harris Rosen has passed away this morning at the age of 85, according to Frank Santos, vice president of Rosen Hotels and Resorts.

Harris was an angel to so many here on earth, and now he takes his place among the angels in heaven. A beloved father, grandfather, and a pillar of our community, his boundless generosity and love touched countless lives through his unwavering commitment to helping underserved communities, promoting education, advancing the fight against cancer, and supporting health and wellness initiatives. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life and kindly asks for privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”

New York-born, Rosen had a degree in hotel management from Cornell University and served in the United States Army in both Germany and South Korea. He had a strong career in hotels before joining Disney in 1968 as Director of Hotel Planning here in Orlando. He had his hands in the development of projects like the Polynesian Village Hotel and the Contemporary Resort.

Rosen became well known for his philanthropy work and for establishing the Rosen College of Hospitality Management at UCF.

He passed away due to complications following a recent surgery, surrounded by family and friends.
