A new restaurant concept called Tikka Bowls and Tacos is set to receive some funding from the Community Redevelopment Agency to open a downtown location in a former jewelry shop.

According to City Council minutes, Tikka Bowls and Tacos is eligible for up to $400,000 for tenant improvements, $50,000 for rent expenses, and $25,000 for outdoor seating improvements from the CRA’s DTO Restaurant Program; meant to incentivize more restaurants to open in the downtown core.

Tikka Bowls and Tacos (Website) is a franchise with locations in Jacksonville and Arlington, Texas. Once renovations are complete, the 817 SF restaurant space will have sixteen seats. The menu features the requisite tacos and grain bowls as well as curries, biryanis, wings, naan, samosas, and chaat.

Tikka Bowls and Tacos is expected to open at 255 S. Orange Avenue, Suite 109 [GMap], sometime next year, in the former Swalstead Jewelers/New Moon Market storefront.
