The City of Orlando will launch te next phase of reopening Orange Avenue in downtown Orlando on January 17 as part of their ongoing efforts to shift the public safety needle for late-night drinkers and partiers in the downtown core.

The next phase will expand current barricade installations along Orange Avenue hat started in November. It will include center-lane barricades on Central Boulevard and Pine Street, but roads will remain closed to car traffic during this phase.

City Hall is hoping the barricades will train pedestrians to keep closer to the sidewalks while still maintaining access to downtown businesses.

Eventually, car traffic will be reintroduced to Orange Avenue on Fridays and Saturdays.
