Andrew Spear (Website), a prominent Orlando-based muralist renowned for his vibrant and large-scale artworks, has recently completed a new mural at the Hideaway Bar in Ivanhoe Village. Or rather, the new one that opened across the street so they could build more apartment buildings on Brookhaven.

Spear’s involvement with the Hideaway Bar is not new. He has previously painted the bar’s exterior with his distinctive murals, featuring his trademark color blocking and cross-hatched style. He also helped fill in a hole left behind by a drunk driver who plowed a hole in the building with his Dodge truck. Spear cleverly painted an image of the Kool-Aid Man busting through the wall, which was featured on merchandise to help raise funds for the bar and those hurt by the crash.

The new mural is located on the eastern side of The Hideaway Bar’s new building, mooning next door neighbor GB’s Bottle Shop with an image of the backside of the Kool-Aid Man; it is designed to match up with the relocated aforementioned wooden piece, which has been affixed to the other side of the wall.

Go see it for yourself and tell them we sent you.
