Orlando-based photographer Fabio Galizia was courtside, capturing the intensity as the Orlando Magic battled the LA Clippers in a crucial late-season showdown.
With only a few weeks left in the regular season, every game carries massive weight as the Magic fight to secure home-court advantage in the Play-In Tournament.
For years, the top eight teams in each conference punched their ticket directly to the playoffs. That, along with everything else in our lives, changed in 2020. Now, teams finishing 7th through 10th must battle it out: 7 vs. 8, with the winner securing the 7th seed, while the 9th vs. 10th matchup determines who gets one last shot at the final playoff spot.
And this game had all the intensity of a true playoff battle.
The Magic’s elite defense held the Clippers under 100 points—something few teams have done this season. But the struggle came on the other end of the floor. Orlando’s offense never found its rhythm, managing just 87 points. While Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner delivered their usual production, the supporting cast couldn’t break through the Clippers’ disciplined defense.
Banchero summed it up perfectly:
“They have a lot of experienced players who’ve been around for a long time, and they do a great job of communicating on the court. They shrink the floor, make it hard for your better players to do the things they want to do, and they’re good at trying to make others beat them.”
For this series, Galizia goes old-school, shooting first on film before developing and scanning each frame at Not Another Film Lab—bringing a raw, nostalgic energy to the modern game.
