“Hey, Brendan! Do you know what’s happening at the downtown movie theater? The website won’t let you buy any tickets and nobody answers the phone?”
– B. Anthony

According to security staff at The Plaza building in downtown Orlando, CMX Plaza Cinema Cafe 12 (Website) is closed.

Security staff on sight told Bungalower, “Oh yeah. It’s been closed for like, three weeks. One more hit for downtown.” Staff at Nifty’s Korean BBQ and Ramen (Website), located at the foot of the escalators to the movie theater, confirmed the timeline. Both of the escalators to the movie theater have been turned off and secured with orange traffic blockades.

The Plaza property sold to Colorado-based Reap Capital Solutions earlier this year for $10.7 million. It had been in receivership since 2024 after RP Plaza Retail and Theatre was found to have defaulted on its loan.

The 12-screen movie theater was subsidized by the City of Orlando.
