The secret word of the day is, “Nostalgia.” The Enzian Theater (Website) is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure with a screening as this week’s Peanut Butter Matinee selection.
On Sunday, April 28th, Enzian will transport audiences back to 1985, a simpler time when bowties were cool, breakfast machines were a thing, and Large Marge haunted the dreams of every child who dared to laugh at a claymation jump scare.
The film stars Pee-wee Herman (Paul Reubens), as an eccentric child-like man (like our president), who loves his red bicycle (not like our president) and will not sell it to his envious neighbor, Francis (Mark Holton). The bike is stolen while Pee-wee visits his friend Dottie (Elizabeth Daily). Thinking his bike is at the Alamo, Pee-wee sets off on a trip, where he meets many remarkable people, including waitress Simone (Diane Salinger) and a motorcycle gang. Eventually, Pee-wee discovers that his bike is being used in a movie and tries to recover it.
Tickets are $11 and available for purchase HERE.
