A grassroots initiative is underway to reconstruct a pair of historic Orwin Manor Gateway Arches that were once a prominent feature along Orange Avenue in Winter Park, Florida.

These northern arches, demolished decades ago, served as a formal entrance to the Orwin Manor neighborhood, complementing the still-standing 1924 southern arches in Orlando, which are listed on the city’s historic register.

The Orwin Manor Westminster Association (OMWA) is spearheading a restoration effort, based on a late 1920s aerial photograph depicting the original arches. They have since collaborated with design professionals who volunteered to create detailed reconstruction plans and cost estimates. These proposals have been submitted to the City of Winter Park for consideration in the upcoming fiscal year’s budget.

To bolster support, OMWA launched a petition on Change.org, urging the city to allocate funds for rebuilding the arches. The campaign emphasizes the importance of preserving the neighborhood’s historical character and has garnered over 100 verified signatures at the time of this post.
