Orlando City SC’s pursuit of the 2025 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup came to an end on Wednesday night with a 3-2 defeat to Nashville SC at Inter&Co Stadium. The loss snapped the Lions’ 12-match unbeaten streak across all competitions, which had tied a club record set in 2020.
The Lions started strong, taking the lead in the 17th minute when forward Marco Pašalić scored his seventh goal of the season, assisted by homegrown rockstar defender Alex Freeman. However, Nashville quickly responded with two straight goals before Ramiro Enrique tied it up in the early minutes of the second half, with his third goal of 2025.
Despite the momentum, Nashville secured the victory in the 79th minute when Wyatt Meyer scored following a back-heel pass from Patrick Yazbek.
Despite the cup exit, Orlando City remains unbeaten in Major League Soccer play, with an 11-match streak. The team will look to continue that streak as they host the Portland Timbers on Saturday, May 24, at Inter&Co Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
