Christian Stanley (Instagram), an Orlando-based muralist and University of Central Florida graduate, is capturing global attention with some really breathtaking large-scale mural commissions in other cities.

Through his company, C. Stanley Creative (Website), which he works alongside his wife Jessica, Stanley has just earned the prestigious Gold National Mural Award for Region Five for his latest work, Prairie Thunder, a 46-foot-tall and 86-foot-wide mural in Clay Center, Kansas.

Commissioned by the public art initiative A Mural Movement, the dynamic piece reimagines the American bison as a roaring prairie storm. The mural was also honored as one of the Top Ten Murals in the World for 2024 by Street Art Cities (Website), a global street art platform.

“Public art gives us a way to connect people to the land,” said Stanley. “When someone walks past a mural and sees a redfish or a bison larger than life, they start to notice those species—and the places they live—in a new way. That moment of connection is powerful.”

Beyond creating murals, C. Stanley Creative works to mentor fellow artists and collaborate with arts organizations to make the public art process more accessible. The team frequently hosts workshops and educational programs aimed at teaching others how to navigate and execute large-scale mural projects.
