Today marks nine years since the Pulse tragedy—nine years since 49 lives were taken from our community.
At Colonialtown Square Park (820 N. Fern Creek Avenue), a small but powerful memorial invites reflection beyond just one day. The Pulse labyrinth was designed as a walking meditation—anchored by a prismatic “Orlando United” heart at its center, and surrounded by pavers engraved with the names of the 49 angels.

“This is not our biggest park,” said Mayor Buddy Dyer at the unveiling, “but it is going to be one of the most meaningful parks.”
The space is quiet, shaded by oaks, and often visited by neighbors on dog walks or with a Lineage coffee in hand. You might pass it by without realizing—but once you know, you stop. You walk. You remember.
And today, especially, it’s worth the detour.
