Two enigmatic musicians with a cult-like status are coming to Will’s Pub this Friday.
I am sure you have read that sentence somewhere else, about others, but this pairing might be one of the most interesting combinations that you will see for a long time.
Mr. Quintron and Aaron Dilloway are well-known in the experimental and noise communities. Quintron is an inventor and innovative musician, famous for hosting shows at his Spellcaster Lodge in New Orleans. It was destroyed in 2005, during Hurricane Katrina. He reopened it a year later.
His invention, the Weather Warlock, may have been inspired by that; it’s an analog drone synthesizer that reacts to the weather. You can hear the Weather Warlock live on Quintron’s website, Weather For the Blind.
Quintron normally tours with his wife, Miss Pussycat. She does puppet shows and vocals. But, she isn’t coming on this tour. It will be Quintron and another one of his inventions, the Drum Buddy. It’s a light-activated oscillating drum machine.
His shows are very entertaining. More akin to a cool mad scientist at work, than a concert. The music is noisy, but melodic.
Aaron Dilloway is primarily associated with Detroit noise/experimental music legends, Wolf Eyes, but he has made a name as a solo artist and with other projects.
Wolf Eyes was founded in 1996 by Nate Young. Dilloway joined in 1998. John Olson, formerly of the band Universal Indians, joined that same year. Dilloway left in 2005 and has been a prolific solo artist ever since.
Quintron and Dilloway describe their sound as Psycho Jazz. It’s fitting. Prepare yourself for a beautiful, frenetic, funny, and thoughtful experience.
If you’re looking for a night of classic rock covers, you will be disappointed. If you are looking for something brilliantly unique, come to Will’s and watch Mr. Quintron and Aaron Dilloway.
The show is on Friday at 8 PM at Will’s Pub. Get your tickets HERE.
