Winter Park High School is welcoming a new principal. Dr. Michael Meechin was officially approved by the Orange County School Board on June 24 and will begin transitioning into the role immediately.
With over 20 years of experience in education—including nearly a decade as a high school principal—Dr. Meechin brings a strong track record of supporting student achievement, empowering teachers, and building thriving school communities. He earned his doctorate from the University of Central Florida and has spent much of his career in Central Florida schools.

In a letter sent to families, school leaders shared that Dr. Meechin is “excited to join the Winter Park High School community” and looks forward to “learning, listening, and growing together.”
Dr. Meechin is also a nationally recognized educator and founder of The Principal School, a professional development platform for school leaders. His work has been featured by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, ASCD, and the National Principals Conference.
Opportunities for students, staff, and families to meet Dr. Meechin—including a formal meet-and-greet—will be announced in the coming weeks.
