This month’s artist is Greg Branham.
Greg was born in Miami and grew up in Central Florida where his art education began when he was eight at the then Loch Haven Art Center (now the Orlando Museum of Art). Carrying art studies on throughout High School with a focus on oil painting. Later he studied drawing and Intaglio printing at the Instituto de Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende Mexico, then Valencia Community College, and finally earning a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts degree at the University of South Florida in Tampa, studying primarily with Mernet Larson, Theo Wujcik and Donald Saff.
Throughout the work in this exhibition, there are references to a common thread, or so to say a woven group of threads. Utilizing a formalistic approach, indicating strands held together to create a whole. Merely a suggestion of the absolute interconnection that binds all, everyone and everything together. By enlarging the view there is a reference to
looking closer, so as to see more deeply. This technique is applied to both imagery and text, somehow suggesting that there may be a structure or construct to the chaos of reality that holds everything together.
