Bethany Myers is a visual artist whose passion is merging everyday objects with contour drawing and a tertiary color scheme. Her works are influenced by art with intriguing contemporary composition and design. Myers has a college background in Drawing and Photography and creates in several mediums.
The Orlando artist is inspired by art from N.C. Wyeth’s illustrations to Rauschenberg’s Abstract Expressionism/Neo Dada pieces. Myers believes in her work. “The success of the artist is the accomplishment of making art, not sales.” Her confidence comes from studying with international sculptor and her former college professor, Johann Eyfells. “If Johann didn’t like someone’s studio assignment he would destroy it and encourage starting the project over. He gave me self-confidence through failure. I encourage all artists to toughen up and let expression flow without people’s opinions, negative or positive”.
Her advice for artists is, “Work hard and learn everything you can about the different branches of creating for inspiration. Learning about past artists’ accomplishments and failures, keeping up with new trends and ideas, will help creatives immensely”. Myers has taught art workshops and classes to Seniors, school age kids and every age in between. Active in her community, she has curated more than 75 art shows and produced art events for 6 years.
Bethany Myers has exhibited in group and solo shows since 1990 with a present goal to spend more time on her own art rather than curating for others. “It’s time for me to have a solo show again. Now that I have a new body of work it’s definitely time.”
