Enhancing Community Service Through Relationships with Nature
June 24 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm$20
SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY! – Take advantage of learning from one of the leading voices in the country on “Connecting with the Land”while he is in town. This workshop will cover how connecting enhances community service. Adam M. Davis, Ph.D., a naturalist and geologist, has facilitated these workshops for nearly two decades all across the country in a variety of settings. His experience and facilitation expertise will make for an educational and enriching experience. More about Adam:
- Consultant with Earth Knowledge and Environmental Solutions (www.landsolution.com)
- Manager and Facilitator of the Connecting with the Land Workshop Series (www.landsolution.com/connectingwiththeland.html)
This workshop is designed to help participants enhance their relationships with nature in ways that will support their service work. The goal is to provide two main kinds of knowledge and experience:
– Ways to tap into nature’s wisdom in order to make better decisions during service efforts (nature entities and energies of each place can help us do environmental and other community service in ways that work well with the conditions of that place).
– Ways to enhance nature support for general health and wellness as well as for preparation to do specific service work (nature relationships can provide us with stress relief, recharge, inspiration, healing, creativity, personal growth, emotional management, support in processing of personal issues, and more).
After discussing possibilities and techniques, we will engage with and learn from nature in the local community.
The workshop will be held at the Polis Institute (www.polisinstitute.org) on Monday, 6/24/2019, from 2 to 4 pm, and facilitator Adam Davis will be available to support further discussion of possibilities in an after-workshop session. The Polis Institute is located at 1030 W. Kaley Avenue which is near the intersection of Kaley Avenue and Westmoreland Avenue in Orlando, FL. We will be spending time both indoors and outdoors. Bringing water to drink and dressing for the weather are recommended.
All backgrounds and walks of life are welcome. We come together in respect and reverence for nature and each other.
