After admiring the fashion and silent film stars of Edward Steichen’s photographed muses, see Gloria Swanson in the silent adventure film “Male and Female”(1919) – an American drama directed by Cecil B. DeMille, starring Gloria Swanson and Thomas Meighan, exploring themes of gender relations and social class in the 1910s. The film is based on the J. M. Barrie (Peter Pan) play The Admirable Crichton.
