Live at Timucua: Britton-René Collins (in-person)

August 28, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

An exploration of reality vs. augmented reality, Britton-René Collins presents a contemporary percussion program that contrasts two worlds.

Through an exploration of reality versus augmented reality, Britton-René Collins presents a contemporary percussion program that consists of two contrasting sound worlds: the electronic, and the acoustic. With a decrease in face-to-face human interaction due to the global pandemic, society has adapted to technology and the use of multimedia as a means for correspondence. This experimental program sonically parallels modern societal shifts relating to virtual communication and social interaction during the 2020 pandemic and events surrounding the black lives matter movement.

Percussionist Britton-René Collins finds passion in the art of contemporary percussion performance. A winner of the 2020 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition, Britton-René has dedicated her artistry to shaping a more equitable community for all musicians to thrive in equally. She was awarded the Ambassador Prize for exceptional musicianship and demonstrating an active commitment to creating social change through her music.
