Marc With a C presents “The Obscurity Show”: two nights only!
August 3, 2019 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm$12
The Obscurity Show is currently scheduled for two installation performances at Downtown Arts Collective in Orlando, FL: August 3rd and 4th of 2019. Doors open at 7 PM, and the show proper begins at 8 PM sharp — though the show may begin long before anyone knows precisely where to look. Tickets are $10 in advance at marcwithac.com (picked up at ‘will call’, comes with a complimentary download of “The Obscurity Trilogy”). Seating is quite limited, and all ages are welcome, but as this is a Marc With a C production? Expect some “adult language.”
DESCRIPTION: “When an outsider musician with a penchant for outdated technology tries to understand modern society, the result is Marc With a C’s first theatrical presentation, The Obscurity Show. An “experiment in extremely minimal DIY theater”, this long-gestating two-act/one-person music story — part concert, part TED talk — observes social media, toxic behaviors, and somehow? HOPE.
Independent (and highly interactive) cult musician Marc With a C has partnered with Orlando’s Downtown Arts Collective to stage the intersection for many of the songs, inside jokes, and attitudes from Marc’s nearly twenty-years-in-the-making musical universe.
“I intend to make appearing to live in a fishbowl as hopeful as I possibly can,” says Marc of the production. The lo-fi (and surprisingly emotional) show draws from songs dating back to the beginning of Marc’s career, with an emphasis on music from a piece known as The Obscurity Trilogy. Parts of the recordings of that piece were recorded in Canada with producer Jordon Zadorozny, which led to a quick and surprising Grammy nod for one of the accompanying videos.
And of course, the show centers most heavily on Marc’s patented storytelling. “I’ve survived a number of traumatic experiences in a relatively short span of time, but somehow? I’m feeling more positive than I can ever remember. I want to share that,” he says. “I feel like a mere speck in the universe, and many others seem to feel that small lately as well. It’s time to zoom in on the speck and celebrate it.”
