Our Love-Hate Relationship with Parking in the Main Streets

February 26, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

FREE

We have a love-hate relationship with parking spaces, especially when patronizing a business in one of the Main Street Districts.

If we drive in a Main Street, it’s a necessity and we’re thankful we found a space. If we walked or rode a bicycle, it’s the annoying cement separating us from the destination. So how do we find the middle ground?

Katy Magruder (City of Orlando) and Katie Shannon (VHB) will discuss the impacts (financial, health, and environmental) of excess parking and share local examples of projects in the Main Streets where traditional parking standards were reimagined.

RTC thanks Credo Conduit for being gracious hosts.

Rethinking the City (RTC) is an independently organized event dedicated to building a dialogue within the Orlando community and with changemakers around the world about the forces that shape cities and how we can participate in positive change in our own city through arts, engagement, service, and enterprise.
