Sun Screens Movie: “Apollo 13”

August 26, 2018 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$8

There’s nothing like seeing a movie the old-fashioned way: with a group of fellow movie fans. Our featured film for Sunday, August 26, is 1995’s “Apollo 13.”

For director Ron Howard and the cast including Tom Hanks, realism was the name of the game. The real-life story on which the film was based was suspenseful enough on its own to enthrall an audience, even though its outcome was hardly a secret. Astronaut James Lovell appears in a cameo.

Keep cool with a series of Sunday matinees featuring movies linked to Florida. We’ll supply the popcorn, along with fascinating facts about each film, hosted by Joy Wallace Dickinson of the Orlando Sentinel’s Florida Flashback feature. After the movie, we’ll also have the opportunity for a short behind-the-scenes discussion with an expert about the subject of each film.

Popcorn and beverages (Tang) will be provided. Members FREE; Non-members $8.

Note: TEMPERATURES ARE USUALLY COOL IN THE MUSEUM. A LIGHT JACKET OR SWEATER IS RECOMMENDED.
