The City of Orlando Celebrates Black History Month

February 13 @ 5:30 pm - 6:00 pm

FREE

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and City Commissioners invite the community to join them in celebrating the contributions and positive influence of African Americans in the Central Florida community at the city’s annual Black History Month reception. This year’s theme, “Black Migrations” explores the movement of people of African descent to new destinations and subsequently to new social realities.

This year’s event will feature the Evolution of Style: A Journey through the Great Migration. Kenneth Brown of Culture Fusion, in partnership with the City of Orlando, will present an interactive journey into the social, political and changes of the great migration through fashion.

The month of February is known nationally as Black History Month and is dedicated to honoring the achievements of African Americans and their lasting impact on the nation’s history. This event continues to support the city’s commitment to inclusion, respect and diversity, and advocating for human rights and humanity for all.
