The Truth Is Anthology Release

April 26 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

We, at Page 15, have learned that if anyone were going to uncover the sort of raw, conditionless truth-it would be Orlando’s high schoolers. In keeping with our mission to enrich Central Florida’s cultural landscape, The Urban Think Foundation’s programs: Page 15 and Burrow Press work together to present the Seventh Annual High School Anthology. The submissions call, released at the end of 2018, asked simply that local high school students shine a light upon truth: their own truths, and others, in pursuit of a greater sense of the word.

We received over 200 submissions punctuated with honesty, and out of those, 15 pieces that emulated passion and creativity were chosen for publication in this year’s anthology, The Truth Is. Finalists were also given the opportunity to attend a performance of broadway’s Hamilton at the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.

The youth of America are actively writing their own part of history, and right here in Orlando is no different. The works featured in this year’s anthology, paired with illustrations by illustrator Sean Walsh, speak to how each and every student is actively seeking their own truth, and at such a crucial time in their development as young adults. The writing in this collection explores masculinity and masks, beauty and bigotry, and everything in between. From a society seeking freedom from a life beneath the surface of the Earth, to a life perceived through a stained glass window, the works within the anthology embody a true sense of discovery.

We welcome and invite all of Orlando to join in and shine a light on the truth. The celebration of this eye-opening collection’s release will be April 26th from 7-9pm at the Downtown Orlando Library.
