Weihnachtsmarkt (Christmas Market)
December 2, 2016 @ 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm
We have received some questions. TO CLARIFY this event is NOT open to the public. However, it is open to all members of the Rollins College Campus Community and invited guests! If you have specific questions please contact [email protected]
Due to other events in the Winter Park area, parking and traffic are going to be extremely heavy, we advise everyone to plan to leave a little early and to park in the SunTrust parking garage (located one block north of campus) if possible. We apoligize for any inconienence.
Join the German Club this year for our 4th annual Christmas Market! Christmas Markets are a staple of German culture and have been for centuries. Here at Rollins we offer our own twist to the traditional Christmas Market right in the center of campus on Bush Lawn, further enriching part of our College’s mission to educate global citizens! This year’s market will be our largest and most exciting yet, including over 25 vendors from around the Rollins, Winter Park, and Orlando area! Some of our most popular vendors include:
– Hot and fresh German Food (Bratwurst, Currywurst, Pomme Frites, with vegitarian options as well!)
– Freshly made Kettle Korn
– Liquid Nitrogen Ice-cream
– A caricature booth
– Photo with Santa (oder Krampus)
– A variety of different traditional German festival games for our younger audience, such as:
Dosenwerfen (Ball Toss), Entenangeln (Fishing for Ducks), Pfennigwerfen (Coin Toss), Eierlauf (Egg Run), Luftballon-Pfeilwurf (Balloon Pop), Kinderschminken (Facepainting), Wahrsagerinnen (Fortune tellers) und mehr!
Also present at the Weihnachtsmarkt will be our very own Biergarten! Serving both beer and Glühwein to our 21+ participants. Not to mention several local musicians, including Amanda Lynn Hornberger (singing both German and American Christmas music!), as well as performers from the Winter Park High School!
As our event is a fundraiser for a local charity, we will not be listing set prices for any of the food provided at our event. Instead, in the spirit of the holiday season and in knowing that every dollar given will go toward buying children in the Foster Care system a gift this Christmas, we are simply offering suggested prices for each of our food items. We ask that guests donate whatever amount they believe is fair for the food provided. We will publish a full menu tomorrow afternoon with all of the food and suggested donation amounts (the suggested amounts reflect the cost of the food plus a small percentage).
This policy will also apply to all activities at our event! This includes all of our festival-style games, as well as face-painting, pictures with Santa, and our liquid nitrogen ice-cream!
This policy does not apply for alcoholic beverages at our event, as for legal reasons we are not allowed to serve alcohol without a set price. All alcoholic beverages must be payed for IN CASH. Please be sure to have your ID on you so you may enter the Biergarten and be served alcohol.
As for how we will be accepting money: All booths will accept cash and we encourage the use of cash for simplicity’s sake. We will also have a credit card reader next to our food tent where we will list our suggested amounts for various food items and be willing to accept donations there. We will also have a card reader and cash box near center of the event where we will be accepting any donations for our activities booths.
We realize that this is an interesting, albeit unusual method of running such an event, however we are hopeful that it will be well received and we will be able to raise as much money as possible for the Holiday Fun Fest!
