Writing Workshop with A&H’s Writer-in-Residence

Aspiring writers of any level! Join the Art & History Museums – Maitland’s Writer-in-Residence Danny Powell for an intriguing workshop called “Storytelling with fo(u)nd memories: using photographs to jumpstart your writing”!

Have you ever wanted to write creatively but just didn’t know where to begin? Using found photographs – or even your own – is a great way to get inspired to write both fiction and non-fiction short stories. Through fun and imaginative writing exercises, this workshop will help aspiring writers of any level to finally get those words on the page.

About the instructor: Danny Powell is a writer of novels, short stories, picture books, and screenplays, and a director of motion pictures. He has been an Edward Albee Fellow, a Tofte Lake Center Emerging Artist, and a finalist in the Florida Division of Cultural Affairs Individual Artist Fellowship Program. His fiction has appeared in Pea River Journal and Blunderbuss Magazine, and his feature directorial debut, Homer and Penelope, premiered in 2013. Powell is also an educator and has taught at Children’s Museum of the Arts and Museum of the Moving Image in New York City.
