The annual cultural heritage festival series, FusionFest (Website), which launched in 2016 has just named a new executive director.

FusionFest, which was originally spearheaded by the Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs office to promote the cultural diversity of Central Florida’s residents, has expanded from a once-a-year festival in downtown Orlando to an organization with year-round programming, including the Diversitastic Dining series that we’ve written about previously.

FusionFest’s board of directors has just named its former Business and Development Manager, Thali Sugisawa, as its new ED.

“I’m delighted to take on this position and to have the opportunity to grow both the annual festival and the organization as a whole, and to establish more partnerships that advance our mission,” shared Sugisawa in a prepared statement.

“Seeing the growth of the program’s reach and structure is very rewarding,” said Terry Olson, Director of Orange County Arts and Cultural Affairs. “Orange County is proud to support FusionFest and work with Thali Sugisawa to celebrate our diversity and inspire creativity.”

This year’s festival will take place on November 26 and 27 and will include its regular lineup of musical and dance performances, an international food court and marketplace, visual art displays, fashion shows, a film festival, and more.
