The Alfond Inn (Website) has announced that it is finally ready to break ground on an expansion plan that’s been in the works since early 2019.

The boutique hotel, located at 300 E. New England Avenue [GMap] in Winter Park, is owned by Rollins College and the net operating income is directed to a scholarship program that has raised millions of dollars since it opened in 2013.

The new wing will include a four-story atrium, continue to showcase contemporary artwork curated by the Cornell Fine Arts Museum, and will add 71 new luxury guestrooms and suites, as well as the new Communal Café in the lobby which will serve coffee, crepes, and light bites during the day and transitioning to beer and wine service in the evenings.

A new Wellness Spa will feature seven treatment rooms, a steam room, and a sauna, a new fitness area, and locker rooms, and an amenity deck available for event rentals.

Construction is expected to begin this summer with a project completion date anticipated for the summer of 2023.
