Artisan’s Table (Website | Facebook) has named a new Executive Chef, and it’s part-owner Monica McCown.

McCown has been working behind the scenes at the Downtown restaurant since its opening in March, 2014 but never helmed the food ship herself, choosing to always hire the position from out-of-house.

“We’ve had a few chefs come through the door since we opened but none were just the right fit.” – Monica mcCown

McCown told Bungalower that she’d been reluctant to be the face of the popular restaurant at the beginning but that the time was right for her to step up to the plate to stretch her chef-trained muscles.

The restaurant has gone through a re-branding, carried out by Orlando-based marketing firm Highforge (Website), with a simpler aesthetic and menu.

Staple dishes like the Japanese Breakfast Bowl are still front and center but the focus has shifted from higher brow to feature more innovative comfort food items like their Jalapeno Popper Mac and Cheese, Chicken and Greens, and Togarashi Short Ribs.

The menu will also have revolving daily specials, as shown below:

Artisan’s Table is located at 22 E. Pine Street across from CityArts Factory [GMap] and offers  breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour specials. They’re open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 11 a.m.-midnight Friday, 9 a.m.-midnight Saturday, and 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Sunday.
