PHOTO VIA DOVECOTE RESTAURANT

DoveCote Restaurant (Instagram | Website) is moving out of its downtown home on the bottom floor of the Bank of America Center, according to a recent post shared on social media.

As stated in the post, the French-inspired brasserie closed its downtown Orlando location effective October 1, saying it made the decision to look for a new home where it could “… further enhance our vision and better serve you.”

When asked where they were moving to, DoveCote shared that it had not yet found a new location and that the search was ongoing. Bungalower was told that DoveCote would “announce as soon as it’s confirmed.”

Comparably-sized restaurants in the downtown core are tough to come by at the moment though Lincoln Property Company Southeast recently claimed there were three high-profile, unnamed restaurant properties courting the former Rusty Spoon storefront on Church Street.

The restaurant was nearly evicted in 2021 for violating its lease agreement, when the landlord claimed that DoveCote was hosting disruptive and “indecent” events that were damaging the building. A report by Orlando Business Journal‘s Jack Witthaus even quotes stories of people urinating in the elevator and animals defecating in the courtyard.

DoveCote was recently making waves on social media when footage was shared of a manager asking a group of Black professionals to leave their table, saying they had been there too long. The management escalated the incident by calling the police.
