In Bloom Florist (Facebook | Website) has sold to new owners after 30 years of business.

The shop, originally opened by John Kobylinski in 1990, was originally named Orlando Flower Mart and has been co-run with his wife Sally since 2001. Sally Kobylinski shared with Bungalower that the business was sold to a serial entrepreneur and new Orlando transplant, Susan Lo, who also purchased the wholesale operation as well.

Lo, originally from Maryland, was the daughter of a first-generation immigrant and served as her father’s translator starting at the age of 7 years old. According to Lo, he was an excellent chef, and at one point he owned six restaurants without speaking any English.

Lo went to the Fashion Institute in New York and has owned a number of bars and nail salons, and the last business she owned was a liquor business in Georgia before she sold it and moved to Orlando as a single mother with her child – a place they chose because they found themselves here each year on vacation. Lo took about a year to find something she wanted to invest in before finding In Bloom Florist and making an offer.

They’ve done a great job with the operations and growing it but there are a lot more opportunities for growth, and that’s what I do. I grow businesses. There are many avenues for growth with In Bloom and in three years I expect it to grow from a 10,000 SF building to a 50,000 SF one.

– SUSAN LO

Lo shared that she plans to keep the same work culture that currently exists and John plans to stay on for the next few months to help with the transition of ownership.

In Bloom Florist is located at 325 W. Gore Street [GMap] in the SoDo District.
