A Grateful Mind is a 501(c)3 tax exempt charity that operates as a 'Community Outreach Services' agency whose mission is to provide Emergency Crisis Assistance and Educational Resources to homeless and impoverished men, women and children in Central Florida. The ultimate goal is to empower families to move beyond their crises and to get them onto a path of self-sufficiency - free of homelessness and extreme poverty. Families with young children are primarily those being served by A Grateful Mind. They are what society now calls "the invisible homeless"; they no longer have permanent residence so they call a small motel room home, live in their cars, campers or tents in out in the woods. While the others being served are considered the "working poor"; hard working people that can barely make ends meet from day to day due to low wages, seasonal jobs or reduced hours. Add to that equation an emergency that arises: such as illness or car repairs (just to name a few) then it becomes increasingly harder for that head of household to provide life's basic necessities to his or her family.
