A request for a Major Certificate of Appearance Approval was submitted to the Appearance Review Board to allow for the long-awaited extension of the Orlando Urban Trail through the North Quarter District to the Colonial Pedestrian Bridge and into Downtown Orlando.

The current trail ends abruptly at North Magnolia but with the proposed off-street extension would cross the street along Weber and continue west along the train tracks to Orange Avenue on the eastern sidewalk before crossing to the west side of the street at Marks. And eventually would connect with the Colonial Overpass and Pedestrian Bridge.

The plan hinges on the restoration of two-way traffic along the Magnolia and Orange Avenue corridor in the North Quarter and proposes to remove some on-street parking to add the new off-street pathway.

The completion of this Urban Trail gap is vital to closing the proposed Orlando Bicycle Beltway which will eventually connect all corners of the city using the Orlando Urban Trail, Cady Way Trail, and the Lake Underhill Path via the proposed Downtown Connector Trail.
