As of February 1 of 2016, the Orlando Wetlands Park [GMap] is now open year round.

The park’s 20 + miles of marsh and scenic roads and trails would regularly close between November and February per the original land purchasing agreement, but no longer. The City of Orlando purchased the remaining 22 years’ of hunting rights on the land, allowing it to remain open year round.

The land was appraised at $400,000.

The lakes and marshes attract high numbers of migrating waterfowl like ibis, herons, bald eagles and more and it has become a popular place to visit for birdwatchers, joggers, and cyclists. Over 9,000 visitors came to the park last year.

The 16th Annual Orlando Wetlands Festival will be held on February 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., click HERE  for more information.
