Creative City Project (Website) is hard at work creating the first of many new pop-up public artworks in downtown Orlando, at the bequest of the Downtown Development Board.

We told you HERE in April that the DDB was looking to shift the needle downtown with an ongoing series of art installations and experiences, ranging from street musicians to large-scale art pieces, like what’s currently being built on the corner of Pine Street and Orange Avenue.

A large wooden structure in the shape of an abstract archway is being framed out this week by SKIP of A Pivotal Character Artworks, and soon will be painted a rainbow of colors before being affixed with massive flower sculptures by Ha’ani Hogan, PhD.

The piece is called “No Place Like Home” and once completed, will stand 20 feet tall by 40 feet wide. Look for it to be open to the public in time by the Third Thursday Art Walk.
