PHOTO VIA CITY OF ORLANDO

The City of Orlando wants to give us free trees again and one of the best side effects is that it can lower your electrical bill by keeping your home cooler.

Orlando’s Street Tree Program lets you request a free tree for your home that they will even plant for you, to help cut out any operator error (it can be tough planting a tree, y’all). You have until August 31 to request a tree, and if you’re approved, they’ll be planning it this following winter – an ideal time to transplant.

You should receive your approval letter sometime between September and October.

This year’s tree species include live oaks, pink and yellow tabebuias, Nuttall oaks, bald cyprus, bluff oaks, winged elms, crepe myrtles, dahoon holly, bottlebrush, and Japanese blueberry.

Click HERE to submit your application for a free tree today. Be sure to double-check that you live within city limits though.
