Fresh off a SOLD OUT run at the Orlando Fringe Festival, VAMPIRE LESBIANS OF SODOM returns to the Footlight Theatre where it all started in 1992!
A satirical saga of two fatally seductive vampiresses whose paths first collide in ancient Sodom. Their bitter rivalry as immortal bloodsucking lesbian vampires, but more importantly as actresses, endures for two thousand years, with stops in 1920s silent movie Hollywood and contemporary Las Vegas. Told through the lens of a series of vignettes, the creature known as The Succubus, and the virgin-turned-vampire are locked in eternal, if comic, antagonism after surviving the downfall of the mythical biblical city in question. Playwright, Charles Busch, takes us on a not to miss drag-tastic romp through genres of classic horror cinema and the tongue-in-cheek camp styles of a John Waters flick. Under the direction of Jeff Jones (Animatronicans, Vincent) and from the producers who brought you multiple Orlando Fringe favorites (Gay Jeopardy, Pillow Talk, Sharknami The Musical), this production of Vampire Lesbians of Sodom will sparkle with spectacle, double entendre, and laughter.
“Bette and Joan have nothing on these girls and they don’t care who gets in their way when all hell breaks loose.”- Danny Garcia, The Watermark
“…the 1920’s Hollywood era stands out with Jerry Jobe Jr. as King Carlisle and Jossette McCausland as Renee Vain stealing the scene.”- Danny Garcia, The Watermark
“[Jeff] Jones checks off all the “must have” boxes from the Fringe show list bringing drag, sexuality and, of course, full-frontal male nudity to the stage.”- Danny Garcia, The Watermark
“… directed by Jeff Jones – who brought Orlando Fringe “The Animatronicans” in 2016 and “Vincent” in 2017 – and his brand of humor works well with this camp-filled script.”- Danny Garcia, The Watermark
“Charles Busch’s “Vampire Lesbians of Sodom” skewers showbiz with devil-may-care, breezy camp, and that attitude comes through beautifully in the College Park Productions show, directed by writer-comedian Jeff Jones (“The Animatronicans”).”- Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel
“the original succubus is played with bracing swagger by Kristin Pringle-Marksbury, while Nathan Bonk dons a frock or two to portray the virginal Madeline with a knowing wink at the crowd. It’s a winning combination.”- Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel
“an Amazing New Production Directed by Jeff Jones! This One is Gonna Be A Hit Kids!”- David Lee
“The supporting characters are well cast, as well… Jerry Jobe Jr. and Jossette McCausland deliberately overplay a pair of Hollywood stars as if they themselves were in an overheated melodrama of the Golden Age.”- Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel
“The costumes and makeup add to the humor — especially a Liz Taylor eyelash-Norma Desmond turban combo sported by Pringle-Marksbury.”- Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel
“The moment of male nudity is appropriately gratuitous (and perhaps dangerous to the folks in a few choice seats).”- Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel
“Vampire Lesbians of Sodom is total Fringe camp, done with flair.”- Matt Palm, Orlando Sentinel
“Fun and enjoyable show.”- Ray Christianna
“3 thumbs way up for the cast and crew from Vampire Lesbians of Sodom! Great job!!!!!!”- James Costello
