Bungalower has learned that Yalaha Bakery in Ivanhoe Village has split from the Yalaha Bakery in Yalaha, FL.
The one in Ivanhoe Village will change their name to German Backhaus.
They are located at 1213 N. Orange Avenue [GMap].
The Yalaha Bakery in Yalaha posted the following message on their Facebook page:
Beginning February 26, 2014, we will not be delivering Yalaha Bakery products to the bakery store at 1213 N. Orange Avenue in Orlando. During the meantime, you may purchase at our main bakery in Yalaha, Florida, or at some of our markets in the Orlando area…
We spoke to the owner of the Ivanhoe Village store, Benno Deifel, who didn’t provide any reason for the split but promised that customers can expect “authentic and high quality breads and pastries” at German Backhaus.
German Backhaus now carries European style breads and pastries from other local bakeries delivering on a regular basis.
In addition, the German family run shop provides German sausage, meats, chocolate and other german food items for sale in the store.
German Backhaus in Ivanhoe Village is open 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. seven days a week.
They will be phasing out the Yalaha brand soon.
Here’s a look inside the shop from when we stopped in today:

I’ll be in this weekend for sure.
On the contrary! Our selection has increased and customers say our quality has improved.
They have not only bread of old heart but also from other German bakers.
The pastry are handmade by German bakers and French patisseries.
I do hope they are just relocating.
Yalaha is reporting they will be opening a new larger location in the area.
Old hearth already is at East End Market. Yalaha is very unique and cannot be replaced!
No! I can’t lose the volkornbrot! There is no replacement.
Olde hearth services a lot of restaurants like Anthony’s and dexters
The selection looked very comparable. I don’t think they are baking instead they are sourcing from places like Olde Hearth Bread Company.
will they be baking their own bread?
Does this mean that their selection of breads will change?
