Florida Citrus Sports (Website) has decided to discontinue its annual Citrus Parade.

Officials from the organization said they could no longer justify the cost of the parade when weighed with their mission to attract visitors to the state.

Florida Citrus Sports has been hosting the parade in downtown Orlando for the past 39 years as part of its Citrus Bowl event at Camping World Stadium and was one of the last remaining bowl game parades in the country and also one of the largest. It was known for its signature floats adorned with thousands of oranges, grapefruits, and tangerines and took place at the end of each year.

A Florida Citrus Sports spokesperson was not able to share the actual cost of hosting the parade with us at this time.

The Citrus Parade website has already been updated with “past tense” phrasing, so it’s apparently official.
