The Friends of the Mennello Museum of American Art have just announced the selection of the architect team that will be building their much-anticipated $20 million expansion to their gallery on the shores of Lake Formosa in Ivanhoe Village.
We first told you about the expansion of the museum HERE in March 2018 along with information on how the next phase will be funded.
Brooks + Scarpa (Website) and KMF Architects (Website) will head the project which will add a 40,000 SF expansion to the property, integrated around the current 12,000 SF facility at 900 E. Princeton Street [GMap].
Expansion plans will allow for an increase in the number of programs and amenities at the City-run museum, including an expansion of family-friendly and art education programs. The new building will include multi-purpose spaces for events, weddings, classrooms, and conference uses with the ability to seat 250 people and to accommodate 400+ for standing indoor and outdoor events.
The selection announcement was made at the White Canvas Party on Friday, October 4 with the unveiling of an architectural model by Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and museum director Shannon Fitzgerald.
A project timeline had not been made public at the time of this post.
