Winter Park’s new library project, which was approved in 2016, has finally had its construction cost approved by city commissioners to the tune of $41.7 million.

Winter Park commissioners approved the price tag for the new library in a 3-2 vote, awarding the contract to Brasfield and Gorrie.

The commission has also renamed the project from “Canopy” to “Winter Park Library and Winter Parks Events Center.”

The project was delayed by a now-defeated lawsuit that cost the city roughly $246,000 in legal fees. The suit alleged that the City of Winter Park did not properly notice where it intended to place the library prior to issuing the $30 million in bonds to build it.

The planned 50,000 SF library/events center was designed by Adjaye Associates and Hunton-Brady Architects. Click HERE to see more renderings.
