Asheville-based Earth Fare (Website) is calling it quits.

The specialty natural/organic grocery chain announced that it is closing 50 of its stores across the country, including three Central Florida locations; SoDo, Lake Nona, and Rockledge.

While many of these initiatives improved the business, continued challenges in the retail industry impeded the company’s progress as well as its ability to refinance its debt. As a result, Earth Fare is not in a financial position to continue to operate on a go-forward basis. As such, we have made the difficult, but necessary decision to commence inventory liquidation sales while we continue to engage in a process to find potential suitors for our stores,” the company says.

Earth Fare stores will commence with inventory liquidation sales immediately, including store fixtures.

Earth Fare opened its downtown store in the newly-built Novel Lucerne in March 2019 at 9 W. Gore Street [GMap].
