Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings announced at a 5 p.m. press conference that he would be lifting the curfew for the entire County excepting Orlando, effective immediately.

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer announced shortly after that he would be lifting the City’s curfew as well.

The curfew was put into effect on May 31. Mayor Demings stated that it was in place to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 while protests demanding justice for the murder of George Floyd took place across the country.

Demings stated that since demonstrators were wearing masks and practicing safe social distancing, there was no need to carry on with the curfew.
