Elize Restaurant, the recently-opened restaurant that took over the former home of Rusty Spoon, at 55 W. Church Street [GMap], has closed.

We first wrote about the new concept HERE in July 2019 when we heard about the new ownership team moving in but they only recently held their Grand Opening in early March 2020.

Elize was a European-style restaurant that focused on a Dutch take on classic, upscale dining and was owned by Michelle Lagerweij, a restaurateur from the Netherlands.

The owners posted the following message on their Facebook page over the weekend.

“Although we recently reopened our doors to an immensely positive response, the large economic impact resulting from the coronavirus pandemic has made it impossible for us to sustain operations. It’s therefore with a heavy heart that we have to announce that tonight Elize is permanently closing its doors. A huge thank you to our staff, guests, suppliers and family for all the support.”
